Not Enough Men

After losing two boyfriends in a war Elle was still an immature young girl who had run away from home and couldn’t handle the prospect of losing her new husband Skeets the same way so though she would regret the decision in the years to come, she ran from the marriage. She couldn’t bear to wait and see whether Skeets would lose his life in the war too.

Just like Elle lost two men to war, I think there are a lot of women in America today who are single because so many of the men of their generation were killed in the Vietnam War. We don’t usually think about it but there aren’t enough men to go around for the women because a lot of them died in war. More girl babies survive than boy babies. When the toll of war further contributes to the disproportionate number of women to men it destines too many women to being alone whether they want to be or not.
